ABOUT. . .

In the early 1990's David was working closely with the Victorian State Government as an Underwater Cinematographer in the production of marine footage which was used to promote the magnificent temperate water marine environment in Victoria. This assisted in the declaration of Victoria's first fully protected Marine Parks.

David has no formal training in film or photography but it hasn't stopped him creating a rewarding career since the early 1990's.
He left school in 1985 at the age of 16 and was trained as a Compositor in Pre-Press PrintingBy 1990 he was a trade certified commercial designer as well as becoming a scuba diver. The ultimate dream became a reality when he started working for a SCUBA Diving Magazine in 1991, based in Melbourne's outer east.

In the years that followed he honed his skills using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Quark Express and to this day he works on a Mac platform also using InDesign, Lightroom and iMovie. Much of his work involves magazine layouts, brochures, advertising, and combining film & photography into edited films.

In 1992 he started photographing weddings for friends - and it became almost a full time job. By 1995 he was photographing over forty weddings every year and has captured over 900 since.  He has witnessed the transition from Film to Digital - Negatives to Jpegs, and he just loves RAW files!

In 2015 he moved to live in Byron Bay with his wife Miranda. His passion for scuba diving though, brought him to Byron 25 years earlier, and in late 2015 he produced an OH&S video for Byron Bay Dive CentreDavid has also sold countless marine images to Government bodies and publishing houses in Australia and around the world. He has been published widely in various International diving magazines, won several underwater photo competitions and sold photographs and underwater footage to publishers and advertising agencies.

It's time for a new challenge and Byron Bay is it . . . he continues to dive and film marine creatures but re-building his once busy Melbourne-based Photography business is of greater importance.
David says... "I've never claimed to be the best but I do a quality job every time and honesty and integrity are very important to me. I love it when a Bride calls me to book me as her wedding photographer, just saying, we met you at a Wedding and we love what you do. If my clients are happy I am a contented little vegemite!".

Have a look at Dave's YouTube channel - it has over 100 edited films of diving and travel from various global destinations. He is also on LinkedIn (if you're on that) and Facebook too. And, sincerely... If you ever need advice or help with a concept, or anything photographed, I am here to help!

All the best . . .  Dave Bryant.
